SISTERHOOD IN A PANDEMIC- A SERIES BY ISABELLA FRANQUI

Updated: Aug 11, 2020

"Sisterhood in a Pandemic is about highlighting womxn friendships and symbolizing how strong that connection goes beyond staying in isolation. In collaboration with friends, old scrapbook pictures, Polaroids, digital pictures of them with their mom, grandmother, best womxn friends, etc were asked to be put into this series. They also answered the question: what word do you believe best represents what sisterhood is about? These words are only the beginning, but it's the thoughts and same feelings put into this series that made it come alive. Graphic design, collage, and photography are used to symbolize that energy derived from having womxn friendships. Sisterhood isn’t always created biologically; which makes it supernatural. Inspiration taken from the Salem witch trials, Joan of Arc, nature, and mirrors were incorporated into poses, clothing, and collage style."
