the best fashion trends of winter 2020

recollection

by jenna harris

All throughout quarantine, we have seen many new trends and styles become wildly popular. Many can say their style and aesthetic has shifted from the start of 2020 and throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. For many, fewer places to go and fewer people to see has led to a surge in confidence to experiment with their style and try out new trends.

Here are some of the most popular trends this winter (and where to get them) to stay fashionable as we approach the end of what feels like the longest year ever:

1. Leather Pants/ Leggings

Grey Bandit “At Midnight Jeans” ($58)

Leather jeans are a great way to stay warm this winter while still having many options to pair them with. Try styling these statement pants with neutrals and knits.

2. Statement Collar Knits

Zara “Contrasting Knit Collar Sweater” ($49.90)

Oversized collared and ruffled necklined knits combine the comfortable fit of sweaters with a bold statement piece. Pair with any color high rise jeans!

3. Sweater Vests

Shein “Houndstooth Cropped Sweater Vest” ($16)

Sweater vests have made their mark on 2020- growing popular in late summer/early fall and showing no sign of going out of style anytime soon. Sweater vests are most popularly layers over short sleeve shirts of any color, or a collared shirt. Style with a tennis skirt or high wasted pants.

4. Leather Blazers

Grey Bandit “Remember the Moment Blazer” ($66)

Leather blazers are yet another way to stay warm while staying trendy. Simple yet classy, this is a trend I would love to see stick around through 2021. My favorite way to pair this is over a tight turtle neck with statement sunglasses.

5. Backless Longsleeves

Adika Style “Halo Open Back Crop Top” ($19)

Open back shirts are great for any places that don’t experience too cold of a cold winter. The long sleeves add some coverage, and you can style it with any pant to add an edge to your outfit.

6. Plaid Jackets

Adika Style “Cobain Oversized Plaid Jacket” ($53)

Plaid jackets are a trend I’m loving when they are paired with neutral colors underneath. Try styling this jacket with black high wasted jeans and a neutral colored crop top!
